Gavel-U-Tion 2019
It was February 2, the most awaited day of the whole year. Everyone was getting ready for Gavelution just before months. When we entered the venue, everyone felt a deep touch of happiness in their hearts. At 9’o clock in the morning Boom!!. Gavelution starts with great joy and excitement. We had the walk of honor which was followed by the lighting of lamp and the welcome address. When everyone were expecting Ramona J Smith , The world champion of public speaking on stage to present her educational sessions , TM Shyamraj got on to the stage and said that Ramona was not able to join us due to visa restrictions . But one thing that consoled us was that she would be presenting her sessions via video call. We listened to her 2 sessions which were absolutely amazing. Her sessions brought in a change within everyone . She proved to us what a world champ can do even miles away. We then moved onto the semifinals. The semifinals was held at two different halls just as to save time. But we found many people confused of their choice to find a hall. We had a great show. After so much learning and fun it was time to fill our stomach. Even during the lunch people were speaking about the performance of the speakers. We expected the afternoon session to be sleepy. But we were wrong because we were gifted with a keynote session by DTM Balraj Arunasalam. His session gave us great understanding about how important are words in a speech. After the keynote session everyone sat at the edge of their seats as it was time for the finals of the prepared speech contest. We had a great time listening to hear some great and amazing speeches. When the contest ended TM Shyamraj jumped onto the stage again, saying that Ramona would be giving her last session. We were totally confused as it was said that Ramona would be giving two educational sessions and those two sessions were already given in the morning. Even before we started thinking Ramona was on the screen and amazingly with her were Toastmasters of Virudhunagar. Within minutes we had Ramona entering the hall. We couldn’t believe our own eyes. The moment was absolutely magical. We then resumed with the finals of the TT contest. Audience were left dumfounded by the spontaneity of the speakers. We then had Ramona on stage presenting us a session of fun. She had songs, dance, inspiration and information tightly stuffed on to her session. In the meanwhile the judges were ready with the results. All were happy about the results. What everyone cared was not about the results but about what they learnt along with great fun. When the screen were off people started to get snaps and autographs from Ramona .At the end of the day we learnt so much. One important thing was to “Fight till death”. When everyone went to sleep what we dreamt was of Gavelution 2020 and nothing else.
